Pelvis air bags : deploy below next to the
outer seat cushions.
When activated, the pelvis air bag enhances
the level of protection of the vehicle occu-
pants on the side of the vehicle on which the
impact occurs.
The pelvis air bag is deployed on the side of
the impact.
The pelvis air bag on the front-passenger side
does not deploy under the following condi-
tions:
R
OCS has detected that the front-passenger
seat is unoccupied.
R
the front-passenger seat belt is not fas-
tened.
If the belt tongue is engaged in the belt
buckle, the pelvis air bag on the front-
passenger side deploys if an appropriate acci-
dent situation occurs. In this case, deploy-
ment is independent of whether the front-
passenger seat is occupied or not.
Window curtain air bags
Window curtain air bags are available in the
Coupe.
Window curtain air bags : are integrated
into the side of the roof frame and deployed in
the area from the A-pillar to the C-pillar.
When deployed, the window curtain air bag
enhances the level of protection for the head.
However, it does not protect the chest or
arms.
In the event of a side impact, the window cur-
tain air bag is deployed on the side on which
the impact occurs.
If the system determines that they can offer
additional protection to that provided by the
seat belt, a window curtain air bag may be
deployed in other accident situations
(Y page 60).
Occupant Classification System
(OCS)
Introduction

deactivated.
The system does not deactivate:

R
the pelvis air bag
R
the window curtain air bag (Coupe)
R
the front-passenger head bag (Cabriolet)
