Mercedes-Benz underlines its innovative strength with technologies which lower fuel consumption and reduce CO
2
emissions even further. The E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID
combines a diesel engine with an electric motor.

E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID. Available as both a saloon and
as an estate, the E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID is one of the
most efficient models in its class. The 4-cylinder diesel
model boasts 150 kW (204 hp) and a peak torque of
500 Nm. Together with a compact electric motor with 20 kW
and 280 Nm, the result is an efficient overall concept.
To put this into figures: 4.5–4.1 litres per 100 kilometres.
Exemplary CO
2
emissions are almost a matter of course,
as is the familiarly generous space concept. The hybrid
concept offers a unique driving experience. The internal
combustion engine can be disconnected from the power-
train whilst driving, thus allowing emission-free “sailing”
at speeds of up to 160 km/h. Electric driving at low speed
reduces fuel consumption, especially in stop-and-go traffic
or when driving at constant speed. For rapid acceleration,
the electric motor assists the diesel engine, making more
torque available. Optimum control of the link-up between
the diesel engine and the electric motor is assured auto-
matically.
